What we love
One word and that is customization, the tools ability to let you customize the interface as well as the type of task, the options and features within and more mean it is an incredibly powerful tool for your business no matter the industry, the type of projects or tasks you want the software to do or the type of team work you want to be involved on it.
It certainly is one of the reasons that we as a business chose it, as we could create projects and tasks within it from simple to-do lists all the way to more complex workflows that need to be designed and optimised.
What limits some project management tools such as the custom fields within a task on ClickUp are it’s power feature, you can add as many customer fields as you like and with over 50 different widgets you can incorporate it means you can not only have a brilliant workflow but you can also produce really indepth reports.
Another feature that we love is the inbuilt communication and collaboration, with recent times meaning that lots of businesses now have employees who work from home, communication and being able to collaborate on projects has never been more important to your business, ClickUp allows this to all happen from within the tool itself, meaning you can in real time work on a task, comment, chat, edit and work together, not only making life easier but making work more efficient.
The final feature (although there are many others) is the pricing, ClickUp are one of the smaller number of companies who offer a free package which is great for solo founders and freelancers alike, this is a great option to try out the tool as well as for those who need less of the features, but for those who need more of the features and have a team the pricing is very competitive. It also allows you to grow as a team and unlike other businesses doesn’t make growing fast an expensive upgrading task! You can add additional users as well as members at a great price.
Notable other features that are well worth a mention include the Real-Time reporting meaning you can use it to pull reports that give insights into task performance as well as employee workloads, time-tracking features and multiple different views.
As with the majority of the top project management software they all have apps both for mobile and desktop which give you an easier, quicker and often more efficient want to access and use the tool without having to load up a browser each time, these also allow easier push notifications for you as a user.
The things which aren’t as good
As with any software like this, there are sometimes a mountain of information and features which can leave you as a first time user a little overwhelmed, now for most people this will just take a little time to understand which features work for you and which you can just forget about, however ClickUp doesn’t top the list of the easiest to just sign up to, log in and get to work on. We’d recommend that when you do sign up to follow a few of the step by steps and to give yourself 30 mins to play around with everything to get a good understanding of how it works and how it can work for your business.
The above is also something to bear in mind when you’re part of a bigger team and want to have team members, employees, clients etc using it, although we’ve personally never seen this as an issue and 99% of people can get the hang of it in a matter of minutes.
ClickUp features
Tasks - A large majority of people who will sign up to ClickUp will be using it as a tool to help manage tasks within their business, with the level of customization as mentioned further up in the article, you can create boards, lists and more with tasks in them to match whatever your needs are. You can then allow team members to join, create, edit and remove tasks or set levels of authority within each task meaning they can only do certain things relating to the task. You can additionally set up things such as reminders to ensure you don’t miss deadlines of tasks.
Docs - is another feature which ClickUp do really well, this allows your team to create great looking documents, adding things such as tables, workflows and more and edit them all at the same time as your team does meaning the ultimate collaboration tool.
Goals - This allows you to create specific goals for each project that are within this project management tool, your team (or yourself) can then mark them as complete, flag issues or edit them as they go along, meaning you can see a clear overview of what’s going on and how company and project goals are coming along.
Who is ClickUp best for?
This tool is a wonderful tool for businesses of all sizes, whether you’re a solopreneur, small startup, funded startup, established business or VC funded large company. The software adapts very well with different packages available depending on your companies need as well as its size.
