What is WorldFirst?
WorldFirst provides multi-currency business accounts, international payments, foreign exchange services and expense cards for companies trading across borders.
A World Account can be used to hold, receive and send money in different currencies. This can be useful for ecommerce sellers, agencies, importers, exporters and startups paying international suppliers or receiving revenue from overseas customers and marketplaces.
World First UK Limited is authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority as an Electronic Money Institution. A World Account is an electronic money account rather than a traditional bank account.
What is the World Card?
The World Card is a multi-currency business payment card linked directly to a World Account. Businesses can issue cards to verified directors or authorised team members and use them for expenses such as:
- Google, Meta and TikTok advertising
- AI tools and software subscriptions
- Web hosting and cloud infrastructure
- Marketplace and seller fees
- Shipping and logistics
- Supplier payments
- Flights, accommodation and business travel
- General operational expenses
WorldFirst offers virtual cards that can be issued from the account dashboard, while physical cards can also be ordered where available. Businesses can create multiple cards, assign them to different teams or campaigns and monitor spending from one place.
Reasons we love World First
WorldFirst is the only major business payments platform built on the same corporate infrastructure as Alipay, giving UK businesses sourcing from China a more direct route than banks or other fintechs can offer.
WorldFirst is a multi-currency account purpose-built for businesses that trade internationally.
- Multi-currency accounts as standard. WorldFirst lets businesses collect money in 20+ currencies with local account details, and send payments in 100+ currencies to 210+ countries and territories.
- Dedicated "Pay to China" corridor. WorldFirst has a direct payment channel to over 150,000 Chinese suppliers already on its platform, relevant for any UK business sourcing stock or materials from overseas.
- Speed on international transfers. 95% of international payments land within hours, same-day in many cases. WorldFirst's ownership structure means it isn't a partner of China's payment system, it's part of the same corporate family that built it.
- Direct access to China's domestic payment infrastructure. Most Western fintechs route China-bound payments through SWIFT and correspondent banking, adding time and cost. WorldFirst's parent company runs Alipay, one of China's two dominant domestic payment rails (alongside WeChat Pay). That's why WorldFirst can support direct payment to 150,000+ Chinese suppliers already on its platform, rather than just wiring into China through intermediary banks like everyone else.
- FX risk management tools. Businesses can lock in exchange rates ahead of time and set live rate alerts, useful for importers/exporters managing margin exposure.
- Card cashback with no FX fees. The World Card offers up to 1.2% cashback and 0% FX fees across 15 major currencies, relevant for businesses paying suppliers or making purchases abroad.
Spend from your existing currency balances
World Card can pay directly from the currency balances held in a World Account. When the business holds enough money in the same supported currency as the transaction, WorldFirst does not charge a card foreign exchange fee.
This can help businesses avoid repeatedly converting money before paying international subscriptions, advertising platforms or suppliers. World Card supports payments in more than 150 currencies wherever the relevant Mastercard payment type is accepted.
Exchange rates, third-party fees and other WorldFirst charges may still apply where currency conversion or additional services are required.
WorldFirst World Card offer FAQs
Is there a WorldFirst promo code for the £100 offer?
The £100 reward is normally tracked through the World Card promotion rather than a public promo code. Start through the FounderPass deal and check the application page for any referral details that must be carried into your WorldFirst account.
Does the £2,000 need to be spent in one transaction?
No. The terms allow the £2,000 threshold to be reached cumulatively across multiple successful World Card transactions completed within the three-month qualifying period.
Can an existing WorldFirst customer claim the bonus?
An existing World Account holder may qualify if they have not previously attempted a World Card payment before the applicable promotion period and meet every other condition. Existing World Card users who have already attempted a payment are not eligible under the current terms.
When will the £100 cashback be paid?
WorldFirst states that the bonus will be credited to the customer’s GBP World Account no later than the last calendar day of the month following the month in which the reward is earned. The account must remain open and functioning.
Can I earn the £100 bonus and ongoing World Card cashback?
The £100 bonus and monthly cashback are governed by separate terms. WorldFirst states that rewards generally cannot be combined with other promotions unless otherwise confirmed, so eligibility for both should be checked before relying on the combined value.
