What is Temporal?

Temporal is a platform for durable execution, which means it helps applications keep running correctly even when services fail, APIs time out, workers crash or processes take a long time to complete. Developers write business logic as Workflows, and Temporal preserves the state of that logic so it can retry, recover or continue without losing progress.

For startups, this is especially useful when building systems where reliability matters: payment processing, order fulfilment, onboarding flows, AI agents, data pipelines, background jobs, human approval flows, infrastructure automation and long-running product workflows. Instead of building lots of custom retry logic and recovery scripts, teams can use Temporal to make complex processes more dependable from the start.

Why startups use Temporal Cloud

Temporal Cloud gives teams the benefits of Temporal without needing to operate the infrastructure themselves. Startups can write code using Temporal SDKs, run durable Workflows, monitor executions and use Temporal’s managed service to support production systems.

The startup credits are useful because Temporal often becomes most valuable when your product starts handling important real-world processes. The $6,000 credit allowance gives eligible startups room to test, build and scale reliable workflows before adding another major infrastructure cost.
